I’m baaaack! Firstly, what a weekend of running. I couldn’t be happier for the amazing running success stories that poured in all weekend, with PRs for Ashley, Ashley, Erica, Meggie, Emily, Theodora, Gia, Steph, and probably many more who I haven’t named here. Furthermore, all the great stories of cheering on the NYC Half made me so happy to be a part of this amazing running community. #hugsandrainbowglitter Yes, it’s been two months since I last posted. Something is bothering me. A lot. For the last three weeks I’ve read endless race and relay recaps. People hitting huge PRs at Eugene. People having the race of their life at SoCal Ragnar. People Reaching The Beach. I want to race, dammit. And I don’t have any races on my calendar that I’m excited about between now and November (ING NYC Marathon, see you there). I want to prove that I can run a half marathon in less than… Read more »

Last week I wrote about sticking to my training plan for the last couple of weeks of training for Brooklyn in an attempt to salvage my chances at hitting a big goal. This week, I’ve mostly been doing that. On Tuesday night I went out for a slow 4M run in the rain. No matter what right now, my legs still feel slow. I was well and truly humbled by the Nashville Country Music Half Marathon. The list of mistakes that I made during this race (and a couple of unlucky breaks) was truly phenomenal. 1. Train Appropriately The last long run I did prior to Nashville was 4… Read more »

My running buddy and I broke up. I’ve seen it coming for a couple of weeks. First, he was veering off to the exit after a loop of the Bridle Path. Then he started slowing to a trot during the second half of the run. Finally, on Tuesday, he flat out turned around and tried to run home. When you’re on leash you don’t get to make a lot of decisions. But it’s clear that Moose, after a brief honeymoon… Read more »

Running a PR in a training run doesn’t really count, but it does give you a boost of confidence about your capabilities prior to a race. It also makes your heart rate go excessively high and your legs hurt for not really any good reason the next day. There’s a reason why the saying goes “train to race, not race to train”. Or something like that. Still, on Sunday, I ran my fastest half marathon, even if there was no… Read more »
